CBSA - Blueprint 2020 Report - December 2016
Leadership and talent management in action

Over the last year, the Canada Border Services Agency's (CBSA) Pacific Region has been working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on a pilot project to ensure leadership developmental opportunities are made available to aspiring, new and current leaders at our Agency. The partnership has fostered a practice of shared ownership of talent management, leadership development, and collaboration across the region and beyond. Our Greater Toronto Area Region has also implemented a region-wide Talent Management Framework to identify realistic and practical opportunities for our staff to gain knowledge and experience. This framework is designed to support overall employee development, the hiring process, the preparation of performance management agreements and learning plans, as well as integrated business and human resources planning. Also, our Quebec Region is bringing out the best in talented people by identifying each individual's strengths and advancing their development. The Region has also developed the Peak Period Resource Sharing initiative, which gives our employees and managers the opportunity to share and create solutions for operational and human issues that come about in the field.
